Locus Insight was set up by Tom Hobson to provide a comprehensive range of services related to spatial data management and visualisation in the social, economic and environmental fields. Locus Insight helps clients by bringing clarity to their presentation of spatial information. Its work with InstantAtlas is an extension of its geographic information service. Locus Insight also seeks to help individuals and organisations gain insight from public sector data. “It’s about the means by which public sector information is made available – it really isn’t accessible unless you are familiar with ways to access it,” says Tom.

Former CEIM participants Enda Madden (Groupnos) and Heinrich Anhold (Epona Biotech) were among sixty-five companies from across Ireland which were recently (1st June 2011) recognised as Business Ambassadors by cross-border body InterTradeIreland at a special ceremony at Áras an Uachtaráin hosted by President Mary McAleese. The value of cross-border trade has grown by over €200 million since the signing of the Good Friday Agreement and companies across the island have benefited from the success of greater cooperation, cross-border collaboration and enhanced trading relationships.

CÉIM is a 12 month full time programme for entrepreneurs who wish to commercialise their knowledge based or technology idea. CEIM Pre-Start, a short Enterprise Development programme starts on the 26th March and runs for four consecutive Saturdays. The first two sessions will be in CoLab, LYIT and the final two in the Innovation Centre at IT Sligo. The programme is geared towards people who are at the concept stage and wish to explore the viability of their idea with the help of business experts over a short period. Participants that complete the course and want to continue to develop their business idea will be considered for the CEIM programme.
Keep an eye out for the new series of Dragons Den. Some CEIM participants are hoping to make an appearance. Melanie McGurk of petzone is a former CEIM who has already appeared before the Dragons.
